Cheviot is located 120km north of Christchurch on the Alpine Pacific Triangle, between Christchurch and Kaikoura.
As well as a vast array of local natural treasures, the cafe scene, art galleries and wineries will certainly help you appreciate the Cheviot District.
Cheviot is a friendly town of 1500 people with beautiful rolling farmland between two stunning braided rivers – the Hurunui and the Waiau. These rivers offer excellent salmon and trout fishing and whitebaiting.
Cheviot also has a growing arts scene and attractive cafes. There are plenty of walks and the very popular Gore Bay is close by.

Gore Bay is a top surfing spot and also good for swimming. You can explore the rock pools at low tide, fish and dive for crayfish and paua. Whilst visiting Gore Bay you can also see the Cathedral Cliffs and historic Port Robinson.

Kaikoura is world famous for it's Whale watching, a short boat journey off its coast.
